About Us
The Gretna Medical Center Emergency Department is a Free-Standing Emergency Department, which means it’s not part of a hospital but still offers 24/7 emergency care. We provide services like lab testing, X-rays, CT scans, and some MRIs/Ultrasounds. Gretna does not have the traditional “hospital” features such as inpatient care or surgery, but patients requiring these services are transferred to other Centra or outside facilities.
At Gretna Medical Center Emergency Department, we offer the following services:
- Accredited Chest Pain Center: Designed to treat and stabilize heart attack patients immediately, when the chances of recovering are the greatest.
- Primary Stroke Center with Thrombectomy: We can quickly treat strokes and even remove blood clots from the brain.
- Forensic Services for both adults and children: These nurses help gather evidence and support people who have been victims of crimes like trauma, sexual assault, abuse, or human trafficking. They also provide care and follow-up support.
