When I think about Centra’s mission of improving the health and quality of life for the communities we serve, it reminds me of how Centra Dispatch and Ground Transport play such a large role in this. Located in the Command Center at Lynchburg General Hospital, Dispatch is responsible for coordinating and dispatching transportation requests for ground and air transport for all Centra facilities and internal transport for our Ambassador Services at LGH.
The role that we play can have a huge impact on our patients, their family members and the organization. Our dispatchers with their critical thinking and decision-making skills help to move critical patients in a timely manner and that makes such a difference in a life-changing moment. Our transport crews are the faces that they see and interact with providing compassion and support during a difficult time. By using proper resource utilization, we can keep transports moving to help with census.
All my life, I have always felt strong ties to the local communities. I was raised in a small community and still live there to this day. From early on in my career, I have made it a mission to learn and grow in the healthcare field so that I can better serve my communities. From starting as an Activities Director at a local nursing facility to obtaining my AEMT and working for a transport company along with volunteering at a local rescue squad–each of these experiences has helped me succeed in my current position as Dispatch Supervisor.
I hope to use my experience and knowledge to help my team learn and grow within Centra, serve our surrounding communities to the best of our ability and ultimately fulfill Centra’s mission.
