A procedure during which breast tissue samples are removed from an area that appears abnormal and evaluated by a pathologist to determine if the cells are cancerous or benign. We offer several types of breast biopsies using imaging techniques.

3D Mammography
This type of imaging revolutionizes how breast cancer is detected by producing standard 2D views while also allowing breast tissue examination by layer. This advanced technology offers our patients greater accuracy, earlier detection and up to 40% fewer recalls for additional testing. 

Breast reconstruction and plastic surgery

Breast MRI
This type of scan examines dense breast tissue, scar tissue at a lumpectomy site and any breast abnormalities. It also helps determine if breast disease has spread and evaluates breast implants for leakage or rupture. It is a screening tool for women with calculated increased risk for developing breast cancer in their lifetime or for those who are genetically predisposed to carry the breast cancer genes BRCA1 and 2. 

High resolution breast ultrasound
Using high-frequency sound waves, high resolution breast ultrasound detects abnormalities to determine whether tissue is a benign cyst or a potentially cancerous lump. Ultrasounds may detect problems that a mammogram does not identify.
