About the Fund
The Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center Patient Support Program was established to support patients with cancer in the central Virginia area in a compassionate and comprehensive way.

The Program’s Mission
A local community-based fund supported through the Centra Foundation, the primary purpose of the program is to assure compassionate care for people with cancer during their treatment and maintain an outstanding comprehensive community cancer program.

How the Fund Is Used
The fund is designed to provide financial assistance to bridge gaps and ensure all patients have access to support services and therapies. The support enables physicians and staff to identify patients in need and immediately provide financial assistance to these patients.

All contributions will stay within Lynchburg and the surrounding community.

Fund Goals
Specific goals for donations to the fund include:

  • Support for prosthesis; wigs and head prosthesis, breast prosthesis
  • Nutritional supplements
  • Home medical devices including but not limited to walkers, bedside commodes, wheelchairs and canes
  • Support for transitional medicines that either the patient cannot afford or to keep the patient well while they wait for insurance to compensate
  • Transportation to and from treatments or rehabilitation
  • Help support community, patient and staff education programs

How To Give
With your help, this program will serve as a resource for all cancer patients in their time of need, alleviating some of the burden and stress of this difficult and very stressful time.
