Registering for services-to-be-rendered is mandatory and allows our staff to learn more about you before treatment is given. You can register the day of your visit or pre-register for services to skip this step upon arrival. You can register in our admissions departments at the hospital where you will be treated.

What to bringBring any documents needed to answer questions about you and your family's medical history. Also, be sure to bring any prescription medication you are currently taking, along with your doctor's orders for treatment and your insurance card.
What to expectAn administrative professional will interview you to prepare the proper documentation for your hospital visit. You will be asked several questions about you and your family's medical history, where you live and work, method of payment, insurance coverage, doctor's information, etc.
Financial ArrangementsYou should discuss health care coverage with your employer or private insurance carrier to determine your insurance coverage. All charges not covered by insurance are your responsibility to pay at the time you leave the hospital. We accept personal checks, many types of insurance, and VISA, Mastercard and Discover. For questions regarding your Lynchburg General Hospital or Virginia Baptist Hospital bill, please call Centra Health at (434) 947-3777. For questions regarding your Centra Lab bill, please call Centra Health at (434) 947-4757.
Physician BillingYour hospital bill includes all hospital charges only. Physicians'professional services are billed separately.
PoliciesFamily and friends are important to a patient's recovery. That's why we encourage them to visit our patients. We do ask that you respect the privacy of other patients as you visit with your loved one. If you do bring children to visit, please make sure they are always accompanied by an adult.
Intensive Care Units Visitation at intensive care units varies. Please call either Lynchburg General Hospital at (434) 947-3000 or Virginia Baptist Hospital at (434) 947-4000 to find out when visitation is permitted. Personal bedding supplies are not permitted. Hospital Guest Rooms For Patients' FamiliesLynchburg General Hospital has four guest rooms in the School of Nursing building that are available, when extenuating circumstances arise, for the families of our patients. Three of the rooms have queen size beds and the fourth has two double beds. You may make arrangements to use our guest rooms by asking any hospital staff member to call the nursing supervisor on duty. The nursing supervisor can be contacted through the hospital's nursing office at (434) 947-3055 between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. During other hours, ask any member of the nursing staff to page the supervisor.
Our nursing supervisor will give you a complete information packet and more instructions when you receive the key to your guest room. Our guest rooms are provided at no charge to families. As part of Centra Health's guest accommodations service, guest rooms also are available at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Other Helpful InformationOur hospital gift shop features newspapers, magazines, cards, and silk and fresh flower arrangements for sale, as well as many other items and gifts. It's located off the hospital main lobby in the South Building.
Our hospital chapel is open 24 hours a day for our patients and their families. If you would like to talk with one of our chaplains, call extension 4501 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. After these hours, a member of our nursing staff can help you get in touch with a chaplain.
