What is the Center for Restorative Care and Rehabilitation?
The CRCR is a long term, acute care hospital (LTACH) that provides comprehensive care and rehabilitation for patients with multiple medical problems.  Patients typically require longer stays for diagnosis such as pulmonary and/or tracheotomy care, ventilator weaning, critical care issues, infectious diseases due to trauma, extensive surgery or disease.  The CRCR is wholly owned by Centra Health Inc.

What is Centra Health, Inc?
Centra Health Inc. is a not for profit regional healthcare system that is comprised of Lynchburg General Hospital, Virginia Baptist Hospital, Southside Community Hospital, Guggenheimer Health and Rehabilitation Center, Summit Health and Rehabilitation Center, Fairmont Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center, Virginia Baptist Hospital Acute Rehab Center, Aspire Home Health, Centra Health Hospice , Aspire Outpatient programs in five locations, Summit Continuing Care Retirement Community, and Summit Assisted Living opening 2007.  The hospitals are JCAHO accredited, the Acute Rehab Center is accredited by CARF and Lynchburg General and Virginia Baptist have received Magnet status, the nation's highest nursing honor.

What types of patients are eligible for admission to the CRCR?
Medically complex patients often with multi-system failure are eligible for admission.  Patients may be ventilator dependent, or dependent on technology such as parenteral nutrition, respiratory and cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and dialysis. Diagnoses may include, although not limited to:

• Pulmonary Disease
• Cardiac Disease
• CVA
• Cancer
• Extensive wounds
• Neuromuscular diseases (ALS)
• Gastrointestinal disease
• Extensive post-op complications
• Acute Renal Failure
• Multi-trauma
• Medically complicated patients needing rehabilitation

Where is the CRCR located?
The CRCR is located in Central Virginia on the campus of
Centra Health’s Virginia Baptist Hospital, 3300 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia 24503.  CRCR is a specialized "hospital within a hospital" and is located on the fifth floor of Virginia Baptist Hospital.  It is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technology.

What types of services are provided for patients CRCR?
Services are interdisciplinary and include:

• RNs, LPNs, & CNAs
• Respiratory therapy
• Physical, occupational, and speech therapies
• Nutrition therapy
• Social work and case management services
• Laboratory, radiology, and pharmacy
• Telemetry
• Dialysis
• Pain management
• Family intervention
