Centra Health owns 50 percent of Bedford Memorial Hospital under a joint ownership arrangement signed in 2001 with Carilion Health System in Roanoke. The hospital operates 50 inpatient beds and 111 long-term care beds. Also on the Bedford Memorial campus is an adult day care facility wth a capacity to care for 41 adults.

Bedford Memorial Hospital, which has 325 employees and serves about 1,600 patients annually, specializes in women's health, outpatient surgery, geriatrics and 24-hour emergency services. Bedford Memorial Hospital is located about 20 miles west of Lynchburg.
